The country’s first state of the art Khadi Mall opened this month near Gandhi Maidan is almost empty within 15 days. Since November 5th, 70 percent goods have been sold, but new goods are not being supplied. Many show cases and racks are lying vacant. The range of shirts, kurtas, bundi, caps, saris etc. are very few. Khadi institutions have refused to deliver new goods due to arrears. The empty mall was inaugurated by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on November 5th,2019.

84 institutions of the state registered with the Khadi Commission have to supply goods to the Khadi Mall. Prior to the inauguration, the institutions had lent goods worth five crore rupees to the mall through the Khadi Board. At that time, the board said that the amount would be paid in a week but it has not been paid yet.

“Efforts are being made to pay Khadi institutions every week. Initially there is some technical problem, due to which the institutions are not getting paid.”Said BN Prasad, CEO Bihar State Khadi Board

Khadi organizations say that until the board pays the dues, there is no question of giving the same again. The board should pay at least 50 percent of the amount without delay, after which pay the remaining amount in two months. The earlier provision was more correct. In this regard, when asked about Narmadeshwar Lal, Secretary, Industries Department, he expressed ignorance about the case. On putting more emphasis, just said that if there is a problem, a solution will be found soon.
